DAY 1 TASK
DAY 2 TASK
DAY 3 TASK
DAY 4 TASK
This week for reading, we are going to be focusing on: USING TEXT FEATURES

Please see below the reading strategy students are encouraged to work on when reading their right fit readers.

Parents:
  • Please encourage your child to actively use their reading strategies to solve unknown words.
  • Please read the Parent Pipeline below to support your understanding of this important reading strategy.

Information for Parents
This booklet is set out to create activities for your child to complete each day with respect to our focus reading strategy (refer to the ‘Parent Pipeline’ for information on this strategy). Specific books have not been assigned to these activities as each child reads at their own level and as such they are best selecting their own right fit readers.

For those who have limited access to reading material at home, please feel free to use one or more of the following resources to support your child's home reading:
  1. Reading Eggspress offers a library of online books. This is great for providing a variety of Fiction and Non-Fiction options to your child/ren.
  2. You can read aloud to your child or share the reading with your child, if the text is too hard for them to read and get them to retell the story based on their understanding of what they have heard and understood.
  3. Storyline Online: This resource is based in the US but has a great collection of stories being read by movie and T.V. actors! https://www.storylineonline.net/
  4. This is a phonics-based website that offers free pdf books focused on certain phonemic sounds. https://www.speld-sa.org.au/services/phonic-books.html
Epic! Reading Online

In 1/2A, we use the Epic! website to discover cool new books that we love to read. We can take quizzes on what we've read, and Miss Radford can leave us books that she would like us to read.

The website is
www.getepic.com/students and our class code is mxd3055
