Writing
WEEK 9
Welcome to Ms. W's writing page. Students are asked to use the lined writing books that were given to them to write.
Parents:
Please remind your child to write on the solid lines and to think about their normal, scared and brave letters when they are writing. (All students will know what you are talking about, even if you do not!!)
* Use the 3 star success criteria to see how your child is going with their writing. Always challenge them to aim high. They can edit their work and add more describing words or if they are struggling encourage them to simplify their story.

Star Criteria
I am asking that students self-assess (with their parents help at times if needed) how many stars they think they were working at for each lesson. They might like to draw these at the bottom of their work as a reminder for when they touch-base with myself (e.g. if worked at one star, draw one star on their work).
INFORMATIONAL WRITING
Informational writing is a type of nonfiction writing that conveys information about something, which means it is factual. Informational text is often organised so the reader can easily and quickly find information. This is our last week at looking at writing an informational piece.

Watch the short video for an example on how you can do your news report in activity 5. It is just a bit of fun, and as you can see from my video it DOES NOT have to be perfect, but it can also give your child a sense of achievement and success at the end of this unit.
